Skin Diseases and Disorders

Now let's take a closer look at skin diseases, disorders and conditions. Persons with boils, infected wounds, open sores, or abrasions, or weeping dermatological lesions, should avoid working where there is a likelihood that they could contaminate healthcare supplies, body art equipment, or working surfaces. Workers skin should be free of rash or infection. And healthcare workers, tattoo artists and care givers should cover any sores with bandages to avoid the potential spread of disease. Skin is one of the best defenses we have against infectious diseases, and I think it's important that we take a look at the anatomy of the skin.

See, skin is the largest organ of the body. It contains blood vessels, sensory receptors, nerves and sweat glands. It's made up of the epidermis and the dermis. And it varies in thickness from about one and a half to four millimeters or more. Skin is the first line of defense against infection. Now, the epidermis is the thick outer layer of the tissue, and the dermis is the strong flexible second layer of connective tissue. The dermis is filled with blood vessels, and unclean tattooing or body art is a high risk activity for bloodborne pathogens,.

Because it involves multiple punctures of that skin. And when we put the pigment under the skin, it goes into the actual lower dermis levels, which is completely unprotected from disease. Hypodermis is just below the skin. It's the fatty layer, also called the subcutaneous layer. There are three commonly spread skin diseases that we should mention, and we're going to break them into bacterial, viral and fungal. The first one bacterial, MRSA, otherwise known as methicillinresistant Staphylococcus aureus, infection can look like an ordinary skin wound, a boil or an infected sore,.

Highly contagious. Now the second type, viral, we're going to look at herpes simplex. Generally it's found on the face, the scalp, arms, neck and upper chest. It's indicated by small round blisters, and when they're broken can secrete a clear or a yellowish fluid. People contract herpes by touching the infected yellowish fluid, and then spreading it to nonintact skin, mucus membranes or other areas of their body. The last, fungal infection, most popularly known as athlete's foot or ringworm. It can cause red, patchy, or flaky itchy areas. It is contagious and is easily spread from one person to another.

It spreads when infected areas on another person, or contaminated surfaces, are touched. And then the effected areas really should be kept clean and dry, and in many cases, you'll probably need to get a medication that is an antifungal to finally rid yourself of that infection. Now some people with the following conditions are more prone to skin disorders. Healing may be adversely effected by receiving tattoos or body art. A history of Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C. HIV or actually the autoimmune deficiency symdrome. Diabetes. A history of hemophilia or any other blood disorder or disease.

Common reasons for many skin conditions fall into one of the following three categories parasitic, nutritional, and environmental. gtgtNARRATORParasites, which are organisms that live and feed off of another living organism,.

Can cause your pet to suffer from discomfort, allergic reactions, and other serious conditions. Flea allergy dermatitis is one of the most common skin conditions in dogs and cats. Did I Bleach My Skin Part 1

So lots of people see this picture of me and the first thing that they assume is that I bleached my skin and that is 100 NOT true. So I wanna talk to you guys about something that is a sideeffect of my weight gain and weight loss and something that has been presented to me on both social media um, as well as through email and just questions about my skin and about the changes that I've seen since losing weight. So when I first started experiencing the sideeffects of what I now know is Acanthosis Nigricans, I did not know.

What it was. I had dark, leathery patches around my eyes, um, on my cheek bones, on my neck, on my elbows, my knees, even my knuckles. And I had no idea what it was, the main thing that I wanted to do was to fix the obvious discoloration in my skin, on my face because that was something that was directly affecting me. So I tried everything, I tried creams, I tried changing my face wash, I tried facial scrubs, um I tried dark spot removers, I tried EVERYTHING! So I finally went to see a dermatologist and when I did, um, they told me or she told.

Me that she thought that it was Acanthosis Nigricans and she suggested that I go to an.go and see my normal doctor or my primary care physician, um, to be tested for other, you know, other diseases. Um, and so once I got to my doctor I actually found out that I was in fact prediabetic. And that the Acanthosis Nigricans was a direct um, symptom of that. And so I do encourage anybody who is experiencing those types of um, discoloration or differences in your skin.Pay attention because it could be a sign of something more serious. For me,.

Um, luckily once I did start to lose the weight, the discoloration started to fade and my skin started to become normal again. Uh, I wanna point out that before I gained weight, I wasn't this color. So it was an obvious effect of the weight gain. It was not something where I bleached my skin or anything like that to change my color. I started off this color, I turned that color and now I'm back to my normal color. So I hope that this clears up all of the uh comments and things that I've been getting on Instagram. And I strongly,.

Strongly suggest that if you are experiencing any type of skin issues you should go and see your doctor because you never know what your body is trying to tell you. Luckily, I never did get to the fullblown stage of diabetes. I was able to prevent it with the weight loss so again, if you're having any of those types of, you know, reactions in your skin or you're seeing changes don't ignore it! Your body is probably trying to tell you something. So thank you guys so much for watching and I will see you next week.
