Nutrition Weight Loss Soy Formula Side Effects

My name is Christine Marquette and I am a registered dietitian with Austin Regional Clinic and I am going to talk to you about soy formula side effects. There are several different soy formulas available. Soy formulas specifically for infants and soy formulas for adults and now in either one typically the most common response is somebody who has an allergy. That is typically very easy to identify. They will either have hives or difficulty breathing. They may experience swelling. If this happens then definitely the soy formula needs to be discontinued. Some slightly more uncommon side effects that may happen but.

Are not actual allergies but may be along the lines of intolerances are things such as gas, bloating, stomach cramping. Occasionally infants may experience more severe reactions such as intestinal bleeding and that is a lot less common but again it is something that you need to be aware of and be on the look out for. Always check your infant's diapers to make sure there is nothing unusual going on there. Another thing to be aware of is that soy in some people can interfere with their thyroid function so that is another.

Thing to be very cautious with and you always want to keep an eye on your infant's growth, whether they are gaining weight appropriately, whether they are growing in length appropriately. Keep up with your pediatrician and make sure you notify your pediatrician if you notice any abnormalities with your infant. In an adult who may be using some type of soy formula, again if they have a history of some type of thyroid disease they will likely be better off by laying off of soy products because those can interfere with thyroid functions.

Why Does My Baby Have a Rash on Her Face

Why does my baby have a rash on her face It's as if she has acne, but I'm afraid it is something dangerous. Babies can have acne. It is a mild infection as their bodies are exposed to various pathogens and start to fight it. What if they are worse than mild pimples If your baby is having trouble breathing or digestive problems after eating a new food, it may be food allergies. What if she's been sick If there is a fever with the rash, it could be anything from the chicken pox to Fifth's.

Disease. What is Fifth's disease It was one of the five common childhood diseases. It was considered the fifth one, because kids usually got it around age five, though they could get it when they were in preschool. But I'm dealing with a baby. The odds of it being Fifth's disease go up if he or she could have gotten it from an older sibling. But if there is a high fever and sore throat, it could be something serious like scarlet fever. I'm pretty sure she's vaccinated against that. Your baby is in the process of getting vaccinated against major diseases. She might not have.

Gotten the vaccine yet or doesn't have full immunity yet. She doesn't have a high fever. Could it be something more benign Do you have bed bugs Do you have pets, and the baby could have been exposed to fleas When we tell the kids good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite, I never meant literally. At least I know it isn't poison ivy like my preschooler had. If the older sibling has been in physical contact with the baby, or the baby laying down on clothes and blankets the older one was in, yes, the baby could have a reaction.

Childcare Babies Toddlers Overnight Infant Care

Hi my name is Veronica Baragas with mywigglesandgiggles, I'd like to share with you a little bit about overnight infant care. Now this can be a little scary for you, but rest assured if you find the right sitter even family member, it can be a nice little retreat for you. So first off I would like to say just kind of find someone that you're comfortable with, find someone that you know that you can leave your baby with and not have to worry about, I mean after all whether it's a business trip a personal time or maybe a nice getaway with your partner,.

Overnight care could be very beneficial. So definitely pack a bag with plenty of essentials with diapers, wipes, any kind of ointments or medications that you may need, sleeping clothes, also anything that maybe toiletries to take a nice little bath for. A lot of the times I would provide a portacrib if they don't have one already for your baby to sleep in. If it's an infant and they're not ready for portacribs bring whatever it is that you have your infant sleeping in. If they don't have all the essentials, provide them.

With a monitor, provide them with whatever it is that you need necessary for your infant as if you were taking care of him. Find all contact emergency numbers, have everything ready to go when you arrive to wherever that it is you're dropping your infant off in, and just rest assure that it's going to be okay, time apart may be hard, but it's going to be good for you. So like I said, emergency contacts, a goody bag, sleeping equipment, toiletries and whatnot, and make sure that you know who it is that you're leaving your.

Should New Moms Take AntiDepressants

Antidepressants during pregnancy do not appear to influence baby growth in the first year. I'm Erin White and this is a dailyRx Minute. Deciding whether to take medication while pregnant can be a tough decision. It becomes tougher when the risks and benefits are not always clear, such as with mental health medications. However, no differences in size or growth were found among children born to women with and without depression, regardless of whether they were taking antidepressants. Ask your doctor whether your medication is safe to take while pregnant. For dailyRx TV, I'm Erin White.

Keep em Safe Medicine Storage and Disposal

The bathroom cabinet may be convenient, but could there be better, safer places to store your medicine I'm Rachelle Grossman and this is a health feature. Experts say to begin it's a good idea to keep your medicine in its original container since the label includes directions and the expiration date, but do take the cotton out of the bottle, because it could draw moisture. All that moisture and heat from the bathroom are what makes this place lessthanideal for storage. Instead, experts recommend you keep your meds in a.

Cool, dry, dark place like a cabinet or drawer with a childproof lock. They say you should avoid places where pets could get into them as well, and it's never a good idea to keep them in your car. If you have a prescription for narcotics, keep these under lock and key, since drugs that have street resale value can be attractive to addicts. After a medication has expired, proper disposal is important too. Experts say don't just flush expired meds down the toilet. This could contaminate the water supply. In some communities, your.

When a Rash Isnt Just a Rash

Skin changes can indicate more serious internal disease. I'm Erin White and THIS is a dailyRx Minute. Why Your Boobs Hurt Before Your Period

Ow. Am I right, ladies Hello everyone! Welcome to another episode of DNews. Amy here with you guys and gals today, and you gals specifically might have experienced sore breasts in the days leading up to your period. Premenstrual breast tenderness, properly called cyclical mastalgia, or cyclical mastodynia, is extremely common with severity varying between women. Some might feel a dull ache while others may experience stabbing or shooting pains. It all comes down to fluctuating hormones. Estrogen levels begin to rise in the first half of a menstrual cycle, causing the breast ducts to enlarge. Once an egg is released.

From the ovary, the body produces progesterone to help thicken the uterine lining in anticipation of that egg being fertilized and implanted pregnancy. Progesterone also causes the milk glands in the breasts to swell. It's the rising level of those two hormones that lead to breast soreness. But sore breasts could also be an indicator of fibrocystic breast disease, a condition that leads to large, noncancerous lumps appearing in the breast tissue before menstruation. They move when pushed but typically disappear once menstruation begins. The exact timing of the hormone levels changing varies for each woman as do specific symptoms,.

Though in most cases symptoms typically peak just before menstruation. And it's more than just tenderness and soreness. Breast tissue at this point in a woman's cycle may become denser and have a bumpy, cobblestonelike feeling, especially in the outer areas of the breast. There may be a general lingering dull pain and an overall sense of fullness leaving the breasts feeling heavy. Premenstrual breast soreness could be worse if you've just started taking hormonal birth control, like the pill. Breast soreness and enlargement is itself a side effect of the.

Pill along with weight gain. And of course, sore breasts is just one of a wide array of premenstrual symptoms women are all too familiar with. Emotional symptoms like mood changes, physical symptoms like abdominal or even full body bloating, and cognitive symptoms like exhaustion. Premenstrual breast soreness affects roughly 70 of women during their lifetime with up to about a third of women experiencing moderate to severe pain. And it's most common for women between the ages of 30 and 50. And unfortunately, there's not much to do about it besides wait. But luckily, breast.
